Political turmoil has forced one of the leading Arab organizations to reschedule its highly anticipated debut event in North Africa. Revolution Fighting Champion (RFC) officials revealed that ‘RFC 3: Champion’s Gate‘ has officially been moved to early April after the recent turn of events in Cairo, Egypt.
RFC officials told TheFlyingKneeMMA.com that the reasons behind the sudden change in plans was rooted in safety issues as they could not guarantee the safety of the participants involved. RFC 3 was expected to take place Friday, February 1st which happened to be a week after the 2 year anniversary of the Egyptian Revolution.
The promotion is yet to announce an official date for the rescheduled event but it is expected to take place early April. No plans have been made to relocate the event to another country.
RFC held its first official fight card March 9th, 2012 in the Beirut Indoor Sports City in Lebanon, marking a historic moment for Middle Eastern & North African (MENA) MMA as it becomes the first official international MMA organization in the region. The promotion’s first two events featured an array of Arab MMA fighters hailing from Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Bahrain, Sudan and Tunisia as well as several South American fighters.
