That is two pounds over the light-heavyweight limit for non-title fights. The Brazilian was given two hours to shed the weight yet opted to accept the fine rather than lose the weight. The UFC confirmed that Silva failed to make weight and would be fined 25 percent of his show money. According to recent changes, he will also not be eligible for any of the post-fight bonuses which is a potential loss of $50,000 per award. He has a severely poor record over his last six fights with the UFC, having failed two drug tests and now missing weight.
