Long-time UFC fighter Vitor Belfort is coming off a spectacular win over Michael Bisping a coupe of weeks back in Sao Paulo yet with the recent rumour surrounding a potential drug test failure at UFC on FX 7, his commendable performance has been overshadowed. Many suspected the Brazilian to be using Testosterone Replacement Therapy for his UFC 152 title fight with Jon Jones yet the results were never revealed to the public.
“I tested before the fight and the test [result] never came out so it is just people gossiping,” Belfort explained to members of the media prior to UFC 156, “I think people get jealous when guy my age is destroying people and getting the title shots. It’s just the way it was.”
With a knockout win over potential no. 1 contender Michael Bisping and finishes in his last six wins, Belfort has asserted himself as one of the top middleweights in the division. The Brazilian believes that the TRT rumours and the scrutiny from the media and fans are a product of his recent success and good shape.
“A lot of people were waiting for this fight to happen and I made a statement and just the way I did it shocked the world. Nobody knows what I went through, the diet, two months without eating carbohydrates, so when you look good, people tend to judge you and criticize you”
With the middleweight division in a state of disarray, the UFC has expressed interest in a potential Rockhold vs.Belfort match-up. The Strikeforce middleweight champ is riding a wave of momentum heading into his UFC debut and the Brazilian is ready to welcome him into the octagon but warns Rockhold that he is “not a stepping stone for anyone.”
