Alistair Overeem has been quite a hot topic for the media over the past few weeks due to a recent positive drug test that showed a staggering 14:1 T/E Ratio. Overeem has since stated that he is confident that he will still be facing Junior Dos Santos come May 26th, and he is also confident he will become the new UFC heavyweight champion.

As if to add more fuel to the fire, Overeem’s manager Glenn Robinson spoke to Inside MMA’s Ron Kruck, who later conveyed the message on their broadcast.

“I spoke with Glenn Robinson, manager of Overeem and he says he is very respectful and is hopeful that he will be granted his license and the entire team is very confident that he will be facing Junior dos Santos come May 26th” said Kruck. “Now Robinson wanted to make it very clear that despite other reports, Overeem did not test high for testosterone, but rather his testosterone to epitestosterone was off and he has a reasonable explanation to why that is, which he will present to the commission next Tuesday.”

Based on Robinson’s approach, it is clear that this misconception will play an important part in the presentation of their case to the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Keith Kizer recently spoke on the Sherdog Rewind show and stated that Overeem had not applied for a Therapeutic Use Exemption [TUE] for Testosterone Replacement Therapy [TRT]. It has been rumoured that this would be Overeem’s expected defense come April 24th, but according to Kizer, a request for TUE is yet to be filed.

overeem could be an exception (unlikely), but, typically, men of his age do not require TRT. i went to my doctor two years ago thinking that i might have low testosterone (i felt tired, not as strong in the gym, and my sex drive was decreased), after blood testing, my doc said that my testosterone levels were fine and that i simply needed more sleep and some recovery from heavy training. i was 42.

If Overeem have a reasonable explanation they should have present it beforehand to avoid this hassles. As a fan and in behalf of other fans out there we want this fight to happen. Some already bought tickets and this unfair for this fight not to push through.
