The last few days have been fairly confusing for MMA fans and media alike. After the initial reaction to Overeem’s positive drug test died down, we have all been waiting for any significant signs indicating the direction the UFC is heading in with regards to their UFC 146 main event.

Speaking on Mauro Ranallo’s The MMA Show, Nevada State Athletic Commissioner (NSAC) Executive Director Keith Kizer stated that Overeem’s official hearing regarding his positive test will be held on April 24th in Las Vegas.

“He filed his application for licensure,” said Director Kizer when asked by The Flying Knee MMA to comment on the situation, “but [Overeem] has not requested the B sample to be tested.”

It seems clear that the UFC is currently awaiting the final verdict of the NSAC before removing Overeem from the title picture. Many fans and media members assumed that Overeem would request a B-sample in an attempt to clear his name, but it seems that Overeem will be taking a different approach when presenting his case. As it currently stands, he seems to be satisfied with his original A-sample result.

Overeem’s NSAC hearing is scheduled for April 24th, 2012.
